International Workshop on Plasma for Cancer Treatment

IWPCT

The International Workshop on Plasma for Cancer Treatment (IWPCT) is a series of international scientific workshops focused on the application of plasma medicine to cancer treatment. These workshops bring together researchers from various disciplines, including plasma physics, biology, chemistry, and medicine, to discuss advancements in understanding and utilizing plasma for cancer therapy. The workshops cover topics such as plasma sources, plasma-cancer interactions, the destruction of cancer cells by plasma, and clinical studies. The IWPCT series started in 2014, with the first workshop held in Washington, USA. The largest edition of this series took place in 2018 in Greifswald, Germany, with about 120 participants.

Key topics discussed at the IWPCT workshops include: Plasma sources and equipment used in cancer treatment, the interaction between plasma and cancer cells, the mechanisms by which plasma can destroy cancer cells, the selectivity of plasma towards cancer cells versus healthy cells, the interaction of plasma with liquids, and clinical and animal studies of plasma cancer treatment.
